Address of the President of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev to the participants of the fourth World Conference on Women - September 4, 1995

Dear participants of the conference!

I am greeting the participants of the Fourth World Conference on Women and wishing them successes on behalf of the Azerbaijani people.

For Azerbaijan the most important task is to solve the problem of over one million refugees and IDPs withdrawn from homes because of the Armenian aggression. Thousands of refugee women participated in the political event "Return me home" held on the eve of the Beijing Conference.

I hope that the women of the world will help the women of Azerbaijan and contribute to the restoration of the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.

Since its independence Azerbaijan have joined many international treaties, including the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women and confirmed its democratic and secular statehood.

Our main goal is to see our women and children free, happy, active, optimistic, healthy and satisfied.

I am sure that your conference will show the real ways of struggle for these goals and define a useful practical program.
