Historical background to the document "From the speech of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan at the celebrations “Children wish and demand novelty” held on the occasion of the International Children` s Day of Broadcasting (Teletheatre, 10 December, 2000)"


The International Children’s Day of Broadcasting was founded in 1994 by UNICEF.

On that day, the television and radio channels in more than a hundred countries allocate their airtime for children programs. That day is also supposed to draw public attention to the rights of children. Heydar Aliyev repeatedly took part at the celebrations under the slogan “Children are the joy of the world” held on the occasion of International Children’s Day of Broadcasting. In his speeches at the celebrations, Heydar Aliyev emphasized the care for children, for their education, free life and development as the key points of the work with children.
