Speech of the President of Azerbaijan Republic Heydar Aliyev in the airport of Medina while returning home from Saudi Arabia - July 13, 1994

I am in Saudi Arabia just the fifth day. I have arrived here at invitation of the votary of two shrine, king of Saudi Arabia Fahad bin Abdul Aziz al-Saud. I will leave your country after in minutes. I think this journey, this visit is very successful and I am extremely satisfied with all the days spent here. During all period of my stay here I feel the care and attention of the votary of the two shrines. Thanks to this, I had an opportunity to visit the most holy places of the Islamic world. Therefore, I am very happy.

At the same time, both in Jidda, Mecca, and in Medina I became the witness of improvement and expansion of these holy places, creation of conditions for Moslems to worship. I admired the constructed mosques, temples, shrines, places of pilgrimage and they caused the feeling of high respect and esteem. Leaving the friendly and brotherly country, I express my special gratitude and appreciation to the votary of the two shrines, king of Saudi Arabia, my friend and brother Mr Fahad bin Abdul Aziz al-Saud. Thanks for the work which they have done for the Islamic world. Using the opportunity, I express my love to the people of Saudi Arabia, and to all its citizens. I again heartily greet them, I wish good luck and happiness to this fraternal nation. Mr. Emir, thank you for the attention rendered to me in Medina.
