Historical background to the document "From the talk of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev with Prime Minister of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Tony Blair (London, 21 July, 1998)"

On July 19-24 of 1998 Heydar Aliyev paid his second official visit to Great Britain. The joint statement of the prime minister of Great Britain and Heydar Aliyev on friendship and partnership, as well as three important production sharing agreements on oil and gas stressed the importance of this visit.

During the five day visit Heydar Aliyev held forty-six meetings with the officials in the administration of the United Kingdom and the businessmen.
