International Organization for Migration


Intergovernmental organization engaged in theregulation of the migration issues. Initially established in 1951 as an intergovernmental committee for the European Migration. Renamed International Organization for Migration in 1989. First it was engaged in the problems of emigrants, refugees and displaced people in Europe, later expanded its activity to cover the regulation of the migration processes. Includes 125 members, 16 observers. Its headquarters is located in Geneva, Switzerland.
